spring break...

Over Spring Break, we couldn't resist the gorgeous weather and open road, so we decided to take a little 2 day trip to Cajun country. Cart loved Avery Island (where "tobasto" is bottled) and our swamp tour out of Houma. Through it all, he was a pretty good little traveler. And yes, that is a "Big Daddy" gator sunning on an old gas pump. I kept thinking it was fake until I saw it breathing.

Check out the pics of Mr. Smarty Pants and all his lovely facial expressions... He's just about to turn 4, but already has the sarcasm of a teenager. I think I'm in trouble.

legends...

Ahhh, this was great. Two of my faves on one stage, not to mention Leann Womack opening up for these two legends. Leeann also sang with Reba on "Does He Love You" that was awesome! And don't get me wrong, the ladies rocked the house... but how can you compete with my George? Like a fine whine, this cowboy does get so much better with age. And can you believe Reba neglected to sing Little Rock?! Her rendition of Fancy made up for it, though. Great show, and me & Lo rocked the house. (Oh, and I did dedicate Fancy to you, Georganna!)

the simple things...

As I get older, I learn to appreciate the simple pleasures of life a lot more. For instance, look at the top pic. Ben is helping Cart shoot his first 20-2. (hence the huge ear muffs and no, Pedro would not budge, even after the gun was fired) A matching smile was on all three faces that day. (Ben's dad was there, too.) What a great, simple milestone. Can't believe my baby will be 4 next month.

The next pic is of Carter playing on the utility trailer down at our shop. He climbed around on this thing for hours, as I was getting teary eyed thinking, "I wish I could freeze this moment forever." and "He won't always be this easily entertained."

The last picture is of what he likes to call, "Mom, I help you cook, OK?" Can't wait to blackmail him with this at about age 14! And no, Robin, I'm not going to force him into entering 4-H cooking contests.... unless I find an unbeatable egg or beef recipe...

the blahs...

Okay, maybe some of you can sympathize with a sista here... I have been in, what some may call, a 'winter funk.' I mean, come on.... the sun is out, then it's back to gloomy, over and over and over.... the kids can't go outside because it is either too wet or too cold... I'm really sick of winter clothes (so is my pal Robin)... and on top of it all, I turn another year older on Friday (yuck). This kind of mood is what my MawMaw Strong would call "having a case of the blahs." I'm really not complaining about my life. I mean God has surely blessed me with a great one. It's just, well you know what I mean, right?...

And what about Jake choosing Vienna??!! None of you may be Bachelor fans, but this topic is worth googling. I stayed up way past my bed time last night to watch a DVR'd version of it. All you moms know what I mean about the DVR. (the best invention since the purse) Anyway, I'm sorry I'm just rambling. It's been one of those kind of days.

Maybe it will be pretty weather this weekend because guess what? My Ben is taking me out for a meal at the Mohawk and a movie on Friday, and my gal LO and I are going to see George and Reba in Little Rock on Saturday. Yaaayyyy!!!! I can't wait to make an idiot out of myself over that Wrangler butt and sing Fancy at the top of my lungs. It's going to be grrreat! (oh, by the way, I was talking about George's butt, not Reba's)
